This Thanksgiving, Aaron and I trekked up to Highlands, NC, to meet my parents for a much needed weekend away. The trip was only about 2 1/2 hours so it was perfect with all the mountain views (would have been shorter without the dreaded Atlanta traffic).

Highlands is gorgeous... the most precious little town nestled in the mountains. The house was also perfect for the fam, the dogs, lots of food and football.

(This a warning that there are a lot of Winston pics ahead.)
This captures his pure hatred of winding mountain roads. He is sprawled out for dear life.
Our stay started out with dinner at the local pizza joint and apparently every other visitor had the same plan (maybe because every other restaurant was closed)
The dogs are suited up for a hike to Dry Falls
This is Winston trying to avoid Aubie sitting on him
Dry Falls which is ironically not dry at all
You can walk under the falls too!
My boys
Our hike began here...
And ended at the top of Whiteside Mountain
My fear of heights wasn't too much of a problem
Gorgeous view
Couple shot
The parentals
Aaron was on a ledge at this point to capture the pic
We tried to capture a father/son moment but this was as close as Winston would get
Granite City
Which was just a bunch of huge rocks, ledges and climbing places
Aaron captured my out-of-shape self scaling the hill
Sunset Rock (a little foggy but a view of Highlands)
And Winston thought he was a cat and lounged on the couch
And here is beggar Winston. He liked turkey and sweet potato casserole :)
And another picture of the fur baby morphing into a frog (or at least his face looks like that)

It was an amazing trip full of laughs, family and relaxation. Just what we needed!

Now back to the real world after a few days away from reality :(

Many of the blogs I follow do special features. I have been spicing things up with the Wednesday features so here is a new one I will call Friendly Finds. It will be my charitable donation to y'all by giving you a precious little find I have come across. Enjoy!

I Suwannee is a blog full of colorful products and killer home decor. And this blog is actually associated with a store in Raleigh.

Luckily for us non-Carolina citizens, they have online shopping. What did we do before the internet?

Furbish is full of precious stuff, and I want like all of it and I mean like all!

Here are my favorites:
Frame to compliment my love of Ikat

I have a slight obsession with turquoise

Tortoise now for the home
Lovely spotted tray

Beads on a clutch... perfect accessory

B-E-A-utiful earrings

Love the fanciness of a greek key pattern (like in a rug)

More Ikat !!!!

It's Coming...

Yes the holiday season is coming and there is no stopping it. I tell myself this as I delay looking for gifts and holiday decor in the hopes that it will just hang in time for a few months.

I had so hoped we would get to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas time in our first house but due to some slackers I mean individuals with the selling bank, that will not be happening as of now. I am not going to go any further because I may cry or scream about the situation... it varies on the day! Let me just say I would not wish this process on my worst enemy. I have learned that patience truly is a virtue... but I digress.

In the process of online shopping I have stumbled across some mighty fine Christmas decor (my house is already decorated for Thanksgiving so I am forging onward).

Beautiful Anthropologie ornament

  I love the hanging ornaments

Elegant mantle arrangement

Mirrored trees (various sizes)

I want these beauties so bad... Angel Wings
White Feather Wreath

This mantle is A-MA-ZING!!!

We have a fun filled weekend ahead with a 5K for St. Jude's, shopping and some Falcons football! Hope yours is great too!

Holiday Cards

With Christmas rapidly approaching I am stressing over which holiday card to send out. I went with a very formal one last year due to our recent nuptials. But this year... I want to go fun and festive :)

The problem is that there are way too many options. I have used Tiny Prints for party invitations and last year's card and I tend to stick with companies that are good to me. As in, this company is awesome! One photo... four photos... the options are endless!

I am pondering a few of these and of course the fur baby will be featured!

The only catch is that you will have to wait a few weeks to see the final product.
