Aaron and I are hitting the road this weekend for Sarah and Ethan's wedding! I can't describe how excited I am to see all my friends (some I haven't seen in a year)!

The big M.O.V.E.

So we are finally moved in; settled, well that will take a few months.

We still have boxes in the living room, paintings on the floor and Home Goods is my lunch break haven. But, the house is ours. And we love it.

Moving day went great! Thanks to our great families and some amazing movers (thanks Mark the Mover).

One slight item: our stair banister is now in the garage. The options were to either tear it out or have an armoire in the foyer FOREVER. Now we just have to keep the dogs from skydiving off the top... it is a work in progress.
Please excuse the carpet remnant and toilet paper. We live cleaner than this usually.

Hopefully I will have some before and afters for you in the next few weeks months. First up - we are getting a new deck next week! Yippee!

Pinning comes in handy

Contrary to popular the male gender belief, Pinterest is actually useful. Now that we are moving into the house (literally moving as you read this) I can hopefully put some of these home decor pins to good use.

Loving this valence/curtain combo. Would love to do this in the Master.

Can't wait to showcase my ginger jars in the dining room. Feels good to have some more space

Love this pop of Ikat in the office. Definitely want to a fun pattern in ours.

I can't wait to get our kitchen updated with white subway tile backsplash and black granite.

Um can we say some amazing blend of patterns... and that window treatment is swoon worthy! Great for a guest room or office

I would love to have this table in my breakfast room; that pedestal is awesome!

I can't wait to style my bar cart thanks to Mom's impressive Estate Sale shopping!

Moving Mayhem

The fur babies are super stressed. Winston is not a fan of the mountains of boxes and mounds of chaos. Winnie is crazy and wants to eat everything. Life is crazy!

We move on Friday so we are in limbo between both places. Major fail on our part was packing the first box on Monday night. Not so bright and you know it bugs this OCD planner.

Anyways, Mom brought some of my wedding gifts that have been in Alabama since we go married. It was seriously like looking at these items for the first time. We got more pewter than I ever imagined and I never knew I had a blender!

My most prized possession is my Margarita machine. My wonderful bridesmaids gave it to us and the bad boy has never been used! I feel a joyous Cinco de Mayo in my future!

Say a prayer as we have carpet installed, finish painting, kitchen cabinets re-hinged, sofa delivered and a massive Lowe's delivery headed our way and this is all tomorrow! May be a long night!

Mrs. Manners

This is not a tangent post, but just one I feel needs to be said... Have some people forgotten their manners lately?

I am referring to thank you notes, but I could touch on a few manners as well :) Now I have some stellar friends in the thank you note department. You know who you are! They seriously have a note in the mail the next day...Way better than me!

Now I am not going to say I am always on top of these or the best writer, but I try to get one out in a two week period. I seriously wrote 150 thank you notes in a week after one of our big wedding shower weekends; Killer but at least I got it done. I know right now that I have three that need to go out this week and plan to do that during my lunch (if only I can find my cards in all of our boxes).

Let's refer to my favorite Mrs. Manners, Emily Post, and see what she has to say on this matter.

"The rule of thumb is that you should send a written note any time you receive a gift (even a ‘thank you’ gift) and the giver wasn’t there to thank in person."

(Now I don't necessarily agree with this but she is a lot more reputable on this subject matter; I think you should always send a note even if you verbally, electronically, etc. thanked the person)

Baby Shower: Send your notes before the baby is born or up to two months after.
Wedding: A thank you note should be written within three months of receiving the gift.
Parties: Emily says that as a guest you should write a thank you note as a sign of appreciation to the host. I had no idea!
Holidays: Write thank-you notes as soon as possible, preferably within two or three days.  Try to acknowledge holiday gifts before New Year’s Day.

In my opinion, a thank you note is a nice way of just letting someone know that you received your gift.

So enough on this tangent, some of you may or may not agree but to each its own.

(This is another post that has nothing to due with the chaos of my apartment/house and the complete disaster they are both in right now)

I am going to brag a little bit on some really great customer service... and no I did not get paid to write this.

Gap, who has been a little sketchy in the past, has really stepped up their game in the clothing department lately. I have ordered TONS from both Gap and their sister company, Piperlime, in the past few months.

Why? They are good quality products with a very appealing price tag. I personally would rather buy 6 items for $150 than just half a dress...yes this opinion has changed since our joint bank account happened :)

Anyways, I ordered some items because I had a gift card and the package was lost in the mail. The tracking says it was delivered but it never appeared at the doorstep. So, what do I do? I call Gap's customer service and without question they locate some replacement items and ship them away, this time with signature verification.

So, kudos to a company that actually cares about their customers. I have some horror stories with other companies lately so this fills me with more joy than you can imagine.

Here are some of my recent loot:

Random Surprise

The best gifts are unexpected ones. On that note, the Hubs gifted me with a monogram necklace that I have been wanting for several months :) I love a good monogram... makes me feel so Southern!

Stars in the Spotlight

I wish I had more updates for you but we are in the midst of some late night painting and cleaning, only to begin at night after a nine hour workday. I know you are all jealous!

I would love to show pictures but I would rather save the reveal when we actually have furniture :) I think you would agree as well! And due to the fact that my camera cord seems to have gone missing.

However I will give you a little celeb update...
Yes I will admit, I kinda like the crazy Kardashians. They get paid way too much but hey they are laughing all the way to the bank. But, what the heck was Kim wearing to church on Easter Sunday? Not attractive... at all.
Beyonce and her megastar other half are on vacay in the Caribbean. Can I please look this cute after I have a baby? Or make that look this cute ever!
Let's be honest.... Amanda Bynes has fallen off the deep end since her What a Girl Wants days. Which by the way is a great movie, in my opinion. Girl got herself arrested last weekend, pink hair and all. Poor thing needs a little love or a long faraway vacay. I choose the latter.
Has the lovely Anne Hathaway gone all Britney on us? Anne is gearing up for the movie version of Les Miserables; but, this bride to be has gone a step to far, or at least more than I would ever go for a job. Shaved head = long engagement for this little lady.

And a sidenote - all these celebs frolicking on the beach should give me more motivation to work out, yet there is still that no extra time problem. Decisions, decisions...

Good Things Come to Those Who Wait

Yesterday was a great day!

First off, we got a FREE meal from Taziki's. They invited us to enjoy lunch while their staff was in training. Favorite Greek place and free food, of course we said yes!

Then we spent the afternoon at the lawyer's office. Yes, yes it is true. After eight and a half months, we finally closed on our house! I feel like doing a happy dance I am so excited.

Now for the painting, new carpet, repairs, etc. We are moving in three weeks so more updates to come.

By the way .... I am typing this from my hotel room in NYC. Monday- Close on our house, Tuesday - Thursday - Working in the Big Apple, Friday- Work and travel back to Alabama. Can someone let me know when we get a break??? :)
