Weekend Recap

This  past weekend, we visited with my family and got to see my brother compete in his triathlon. If you want to feel out of shape, go be a spectator at one of those events. It was absolutely amazing to see all the athletes, even starting as young as age 10. Congrats little bro!

I makes me rethink my month of P90x I have been slaving over!

Masters Meal

Yesterday we honored Masters Sunday with a little Master meal of our own, Pimento Cheese Sandwiches and a salad from the Green Jacket Restaurant in Augusta. It was a close second to actually being there :)

Pimento Cheese
  • Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • Mayo
  • Pimentos (diced)
  • Worcestershire
  • Hot Sauce (Tabasco or any kind)
Like the great recipe sharer that I am, I don't use exact measurements. I started with 4 cups of cheese and added the other ingredients until I got the consistency for my liking.

Green Jacket Salad
Adapted from original recipe here
  • Iceberg lettuce (I used the bagged lettuce)
  • Croutons
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 4 tbsp. olive oil
  • 6 tbsp. red wine vinegar
  • 2 tsp. Lawry's seasoning salt
  • 2 Roma tomatoes chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp. red pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
Mix together lettuce, croutons and cheese. In a separate bowl, mix remaining ingredients for the dressing.

Add dressing to lettuce mixture and serve.

Living Room

Our formal living room is our most recent room redo. My main focus was to make it traditional yet comfortable but with items I would want to keep around for a while.

There are several items we still need to get such as curtains, an occasional chair and styling items for the chest... but here is a sneak peek while we are in the process.

Sofa: Gifted
Chairs: Family pieces; fabric from Fabric.com
Coffee Table: Thomasville
Rug: eBay
Lamps: Home Goods
Blue & White Accents: Gifted; from Estate Sales
Mirror: Family piece
Books: Amazon; Honeymoon book; Gift from Ireland
Ottomans: One Kings Lane

Can't wait to share the rest when it's done!

I love a good party (mainly the theme). I love everything from the invitation and floral decor to the lighting and food.

To tell you the truth, I have been pondering starting a side business for party planning, but my day job is kicking in high gear these next few weeks so that may have to wait until summer. I have even found a great wholesale flower distributor here that is gracious enough to let me stop in. I will keep you updated on the potential business venture but here are a few beauties:

A great spring/summer tablescape

Nothing can beat candlelight

Magnolias are a great Southern addition

Perfect for a photo backdrop

Absolutely incredible use of flowers

Photograph table runner is a perfect personalized touch

Another great bright tablescape

Laundry Room

In honor of house anniversary week, here is a glimpse at the semi-finished laundry room.

I went with a mint color when choosing my wall color because I wanted bright and cheery. You need a little happiness when doing my least favorite chore :)

Isn't this disgusting? Here is what the room looked like during our first visit. The beautiful liveable pebble patterned linoleum needed a serious scrub.

We utilized the already installed shelves for storage (and now I notice the little dip in the middle... oops). This is perfect for the dog towels, vases, laundry items, etc.

A little artwork and chalkboard for family messages.

We are planning on adding a counter for a folding area as well. In case you were wondering the floor is the same tile as the half bath (hexagonal tile)

The artwork is similar to something I saw on Pinterest and loved. They say "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Georgia on My Mind"

Washer/Dryer - gift
Cloth bins - Target
Chalkboard - yard sale (Mom found the painting and we covered with chalkboard paint)
Artwork - Created by me
Frames - Target

Half Bath Reveal

As of today, we have had our house for a year! After 9 LONG months of dealing with a bank, I remember what an amazing relief 4.2.2012 was to us. This home has come a long way since then!

Earlier this year, we decided to renovate the half bath. This room was "fixed" by the bank in our negotiations and they did a poor job with the floor leveling and cheap linoleum.
Here was the bathroom when we went under contract. Yes that is half of the floor missing.

We went dark.... navy blue dark. I won the color battle and I love it. (We are looking into adding an overhead light to brighten the room a little). Of course when I took pictures I left out the tile but it is a white hexagonal pattern.

We installed a new vanity, sconce and mirror

Tried to shoot without capturing my pre-workout face.

Still need artwork and a rug but that will come with time.

Vanity - Home Decorators (we bought through Home Depot; which includes free shipping)
Faucet - Lowes
Bath Accessories - Target
Sconce - Ballard Designs
Mirror - gift
Tile - Lowe's
