Friday Five.

Can I get a Hallelujah? This week was a doozy and I am ready for some chill time at home. By chill time I mean I fully intend to cross everything on my to-do list that has been internally piling up--welcome to my Type A non-stop mind.

I need to go here. And when I say here, I just mean anywhere. It is almost summer so that means lots of water time, whether it be the lake or the beach. Hopefully it can remove this pasty, white complex that has taken over my body.

I love to cook, but what I really love is having time to cook. I love how I scour Pinterest for the perfect recipe and then realize oh, I don't have time to create a 45 minute meal from scratch. However, Cinco de Mayo is near and we may be savoring this Bang Bang Shrimp  recipe in taco form (I learned a long time ago never to fight the crowds on May 5th--that lesson came with age).

This professionally photographed wall is of our new bathroom. Yes I think we like to cram everything into as little time as possible so I can then wonder why I have 47 new grey hairs. I am kidding about the professional photo if you couldn't tell (ha-I crack myself up). I plan to take legit photos this weekend after I buy some pretty flowers to make you think that is what my life is like all the time. I digress... this new bathroom makes me feel like a new woman. Seriously the stark gold hardware with the poop brown counter were really killing my House Beautiful cover aspirations.

Last weekend, we trekked down to Mobile for a close friends' wedding. It would have been a great couple weekend had we not thought we were 21 again and could hang like college kids. But really, it was truly a stunning event. The reception was in a 8,000+ square foot tent, that they built, just for this. There was more food than I knew what to do with and the flowers made this peony-loving girl swoon. I also loved that we took an Instagram-worthy photo so my mug could finally grace social media feeds :)

I will leave you with this face just because I want to. She is truly the funniest, most loving, best person I know (sorry everyone else in the world). I absolutely adore this little bit and am so blessed to be her momma.

mothers day

I think as a momma you learn to appreciate Mother's Day for what it is. While sometimes holidays are created just to make a day out of something, both Mother's and Father's day are days where you can just say thanks. Thanks for all the sacrifices and long nights. Thanks for all the tears you shed, both happy and sad. Thanks for the protection from bumps, bruises and heartache. Thank you for just being there.

If and only if I was to make a list, this are a few things on my mind (note to husband: this is basically my birthday list too).

Tory Burch Perfume |  I ran out of my favorite Chanel a long time ago and scoped up some Tory minis during a Sephora sale. I thought nothing could compare to my tried and true but I actually like the TB aromas.

Lake Pajamas | I love pima cotton for the littles so why can't momma join in with some luxurious pajamas of her own? These are apparently all the rage and I want to be a complete trend-follower and get a set of my own.

Lilly Top | I don't own an ounce of Lilly but for some reason I really love their blouses this year. Could be the colors or needing to dress like an adult on the weekends but I wouldn't hate one of these in my closet.

Beach Cover-up | We head to the beach in about a month and I can.not.wait! This cover-up has tassels to help feed this weird obsession I am currently wearing.

Lemon Tree | Last year, the hubs gave me a peony plant. While I probably won't see flowers for another year, I love a gift that keeps on giving. This year, I want a lemon tree. Yep, I want to channel my inner Yolanda (shout-out to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) and start my own citrus crop. If own the Southern summer will cooperate with that.

bullseye

My favorite store could very well be Target. There I said it! Where else can you can pick up wine, nail polish, a cute throw pillow and a toy for your kid all at the same place? Done and done! It takes some serious willpower to stick to only the items on your list. They should give medals if you accomplish this feat.

Here are a few current favorites:

Straw tote -  I need a new beach tote. Well "need" is a strong word ... "could really benefit from" is probably more accurate. | One-piece Swimsuit - Since baby, the belly has not been normal and probably never will be. Stank eye to all you mommas that rock a bikini after your multiple kids. | Marimekko pouf - Who doesn't love a pouf? | Tassel pillow - Tassels are a new love and this pillow is amaze! |  Unicorn Head - Can you say presh? If we had a playroom I would scoop up them all.

recap

Yep... I am still here. Life has been moving 100+ mph and this little circle of the web sometimes has to pay for my absence.
1 | Two weeks ago, the hubs and I went to market to shop for J. Wills. It makes me giddy thinking about all the precious items we have coming, especially for my favorite time of  the year - Fall / Winter. Santas, pumpkins, plaid and cord are just a few of the beauties coming in a few short months.

2 |  We are renovating another bathroom. Yes two in one month and yes it makes me never want to do another one again. I got the picture above while I was away on business. Seeing demolition makes me feel a pit in my stomach. Slowly but surely the house will come back together.

3 | Nothing prettier than a sunset over the ocean. This was my dinner view last Thursday night. I was in California for a quick business trip and this was my gorgeous view! Being landlocked by a five hour drive time can sure enough make you appreciate water views.

4 | Yesterday, we got a little cultural and visited the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. It was quite an expensive trip to let the little run around but great nonetheless.

wednesday words

You know me; I love a good quote. I think this one comes at no better time than to serve as a simple reminder of the day-to-day. It is so easy to get caught up in life that we forget the little things, the simple things.

Stay Loyal - that resonates with me in so many ways this morning. Stay loyal to yourself but also your beliefs. Stay loyal to that gut instinct or that initial impression. Stay loyal, stay true to you.

I think so many times we are swayed by others. Their opinions, their ways, their life. It always looks like the grass is always greener but it is really? Those life defining moments are ones you can step back and feel an inner peace. You stop being someone you are not but start being true to you.

Be kind. Work hard. Stay humble. Smile often. Stay loyal. Keep honest. Travel when possible. Never stop learning. Be thankful always. and love.

Fancy.

In two weeks, we have a black tie wedding to attend...

High points:
  • I have never been to a black tie wedding
  • We get to be fancy for a night
  • We get to be fancy for a night and enjoy an adults-only weekend
Low points:
  • I have never been to a black tie wedding so that means I need to buy a dress
This past Saturday was pretty much consumed with me searching for a dress. You would think looking for an elegant black gown would be simple... haha jokes. Throw in prom season and it looks like the Hobby Lobby craft section threw up on the dress department.

I want black because I feel like I can get more wear out of it down the road. I also didn't want to spend a fortune because let's be real, I would rather have new shoes. Here were the contenders after hours of searching:

Breaking News - I bought the WHBM one because of the killer price and versatility. I really wanted to make the Donna Morgan one work but the sizing was a concern (that is another post not appropriate for any male figures reading this public diary). Fingers triple crossed it works!

five on friday

1. This past week has been B.U.S.Y. To block out all the chatter at work I have been plugging into Pandora a good bit. My new favorite is this Bieber song. If loving it is wrong, I don't want to be right.

2. I have a date with a good bottle of wine, J. Law and of course the hubs. I never read the Hunger Games books but love the movies. It also doesn't hurt that a Hemsworth brother is in there :)

3. I have never done an OOTD post and probably never will again after this horrific photo. I am rocking my new Gap jeans and Tory wedges. I even straightened my hair today... Watch out Friday, got my sassy pants on! (side note - this angle makes me look very un-proportional)

4. I am loving these precious cover-ups from J. Wills. I have always heard of Gretchen Scott but never owned any of her pieces. Mary Tilman had a precious linen tunic last year so I feel another one may be in her future.

5. I don't know about you mommas but I never get pictures of Mary Tilman and I. I seem to always be the one behind the iPhone but goodness this photo is a new treasure. Her grin makes me swoon.

Happy weekend and happy April!
